Looking for a unique, extremely rare heritage turkey ?
Consider the "Recessive Lilac" color variation.

bb rr slsl

"The original birds were obtained in 1936 by V. S. Asmundson from a color mutation that came from a bronze flock in California. The genotype is bb rr slsl, homozygous for bronze, red, and recessive slate. This is a pure, true breeding variety, meaning they will breed 100% true for recessive lilacs." - Porter's Rare Heritage Turkeys

Payment link below - but please read all info first (below )

We may be sold out for the year - based on current orders and production.

Please ask to be placed on our waiting list for eggs.

We will contact you should they become available.

Our Recessive Lilac turkey hatching egg availability typically begins in March and continues until the hens stop laying for the year. When it becomes too hot or too cold to ship eggs, we will only have farm pickup available or shipping with chill packs. You may purchase eggs in advance and have them shipped on a specified date (as long as the date is not already booked). If you can receive eggs "anytime" and want them ASAP - asked to be on standby for any orders canceled or re-scheduled.

Eggs are shipped with a copy of our current flock's Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory Pullorum-Typhoid Testing Certificate.

Shipped eggs are shaken up during transit and can be difficult to hatch due to air cells being separated. If you want the best hatch from your eggs, click here to go to our "incubating shipped eggs page".

We ship U S Postal Service Priority Mail. You can specify to ship to your address or have the eggs held at your local post office. You must inspect for damaged eggs upon arrival. You can file a claim with the post office for damages should the eggs be broken. You must present the box, packaging and contents at your local post office to file a claim, unless the post office accepts an on-line claim, with photos supplied by you.

We cannot offer refunds/replacement/guarantee on eggs

as the incubation and hatching are out of our control.

live turkeys - poults-juveniles-adults

Hatchlings

Recessive Lilac Turkey Hatchlings (photo below) are $20 each, straight run (gender unknown), and must be kept with additional heat if ambient temperature is not warm enough. They cannot be exposed to rain, harsh temps, etc. Our poults are started on Sabine Valley's Gamebird Crumble. It is a non-medicated, 28% protein. Hatchlings are not sexed and sold as straight run only. Farm pickup only. You may also contact "Citizen Shipper" or "Pets Paws and Pals" or many other transporters for animal shipping quotes. We are not recommending any particular shipper and will do our best to accommodate a requested pickup time at the farm.

juvenile recessive lilac turkeys - jakes and jennys -

Juveniles (photo below) are $65 each male or female and gender is known. These turkeys will be about 3 months old minimum, fully feathered and past the brooder stage. They are fed a gamebird crumble and free range. We mix in some hen scratch and black oil sunflower seed into the high protein crumble. They still require a high protein gamebird feed to finish growing. They can fly well at this stage as they are not yet adult weight. They are not breeding age. If you confine the turkeys, offer them heads of cabbage or bok choy, etc. for fresh "green" food. Farm pickup only. You may also contact "Citizen Shipper" or "Pets Paws and Pals" or many other transporters for animal shipping quotes. We are not recommending any particular shipper and will do our best to accommodate a requested pickup time at the farm.

breeding age adults - toms and hens

Adults of breeding age are $125 each male or female. Males typically weigh 30 to 35 pounds and females 15 to 20. If you have a nice, large place that keeps them happy, they will raise at least two broods a year, or produce dozens of eggs you can sell and/or eat You can also take some eggs to incubate and leave some with the hen. Since our adult birds have free ranged on about six acres of sheep pasture, they may not take to confinement. You are better off if you raise them from poults if you intend to pen them. Farm pickup or delivery only, no shipping. Delivery is limited and costs per mile, similar to lambs, as we use the stock trailer. You may also contact "Citizen Shipper" or "Pets Paws and Pals" or many other transporters for animal shipping quotes. We are not recommending any particular shipper and will do our best to accommodate a requested pickup time at the farm.
